Dog Mountain Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

99celing: The hiding place for this one hasn't been robust enough, so archiving to make way for new hides. Possibly out on the trails which I've not explored yet, once permission is obtained.

Geocache Description:

Dog Mountain is a pilgrimage spot for animal lovers. There is plenty of room outside to play, and a pond to enjoy, and many trails to walk on. Also, the Dog Chapel is widely known as a constantly refreshed memorial space -- its walls covered floor to ceiling with photos and remembrances of visitors' dearly departed dogs.

The 150-acre property is owned & operated by a non-profit group. The trails and grounds are open to the public, dawn to dusk, year-round. As of this writing, the Gallery and Dog Chapel are open for limited hours, Friday through Sunday. Check the Dog Mountain website for current info.

This cache is dedicated to dogs -- and cats and fish and all of people's pets & animal companions. And to the two late artists, Stephen and Gwen Huneck, who dreamed up and built these buildings and trails for people and their furry companions to enjoy. If you have a geo-dog, feel free to bring them with you to help search for the cache!

This lock-and-lock has room for trading swag and other items. Be sure to conceal the container at least as well as you found it. Please park in the designated parking area and observe all the posted rules for visitors. (Note: during the current coronavirus times these rules include standard social distancing protocols -- including masks for your faces when in proximity to other visitors, and leashes for your pets.)

Enjoy your visit!
