Please see number 1 in the series (Are you a square?) for a full description of the walk, there is street parking available in the village of Weald.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

This is a relatively simple puzzle, the information below will help you to solve it and might assist with a slightly harder one placed close by.

This puzzle is based on counting when a triangle is divided into segments in two directions. With a single line in each direction the total number of triangles is 6.

 

When the number of lines is doubled the total number of triangles increases to 18.

The general solution is given by m*n*(n+1)/2 where m is the number of segments in one direction and n is the number of segments in the other direction. For the two examples the total number of triangles are 2*2*3/2=6 and 3*3*4/2=18.

So for the puzzle. If a triangle has 8 segments in each direction the total number of triangles is abc, the cache is located at
