这座面向繁忙的中山路的新建筑也令人印象深刻，因为它借鉴了经典的骑楼或 "店堂 "的建筑风格，提供了良好的防晒和防雨保护。
Jiuchang Xiang (旧仓巷) or 'Old Warehouse Lane' indeed has an old feel to it, though the warehouse functions have mostly moved out. It shows how the old and new co-exist and merge together in Guangzhou's rich urban fabric.
In other cities a new highrise building would often have a wall around it, forming a secure compound not open to public passage and cutting it off from the surrounding urban fabric. New buildings in Guangzhou's dense urban core often don't follow this walled & gated compound model, instead providing direct access points to the surrounding networks of alleyways. Often the entrances are quite hidden away and known only to locals; in this case the alleyway feeds into the parking yard after passing underneath a ground level 'tunnel' left in the building exactly so that the surrounding network is not cut off.
The new building facing the busy Zhongshan Road is also impressive for the way it borrows from the classic qilou or 'shophouse', arcade style of building which provides excellent protection from sun and rain.
