Filming for the popular movie, Dirty Dancing began on September 5, 1986. The location selected for much of the filming was Mountain Lake Lodge. Many of the movie’s stars stayed on the property during the filming. The movie won several awards including: Academy Award for best original song, a Golden Globe for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. The adventure lab will take geocachers to many of the film locations.
Mountain Lake Lodge has rooms, and cottages available for those who wish to stay overnight. There is also a restaurant and there are many outdoor activities available.
