W 2012 roku statek był używany jako statek gościnny dla Niemieckiego Komitetu Olimpijskiego podczas „Letnich Igrzysk Olimpijskich 2012 w Londynie”
Statek wycieczkowy MS Deutschland został zbudowany w Niemczech. Jest to statek prywatny
W ramach nowego właściciela w maju 2015 r. Państwo bandery (rejestr) statku zostało zmienione z Niemiec na Bahamy (Nassau). Pod nową banderą statek został wyczarterowany na 10 miesięcy do Semester at Sea, działając pod nazwą „MV World Odyssey”.
Zimą 2015-2016 pod nazwą „World Odyssey” wyczarterowany liniowiec przewoził około 600 studentów w rejsy edukacyjne po całym świecie.
W latach 1999-2015 na statku kręcono serial „Das Traumschiff”
(przetłumaczone jako „Statek marzeń”).
Niemiecki jest jedynym językiem oficjalnie używanym na pokładzie. Dlatego większość pasażerów rejsów wycieczkowych pochodzi z krajów niemieckojęzycznych (Niemcy, Austria, Belgia, Szwajcaria). Personel mówi po angielsku, ale żadne usługi w tym języku nie są świadczone.

Under the new ownership, in May 2015, the ship’s flag state (registry) was changed from Germany to Bahamas (Nassau). Under the new flag, the vessel was chartered for 10 months to Semester at Sea operating under the name “MV World Odyssey”.
During winter 2015-2016, under the name "World Odyssey", the chartered liner was carrying around 600 students on educational voyages around the world.
In the period 1999-2015, the ship was used for filming the series of the “Das Traumschiff”
(translated as “The Dream Ship”).
German is the only language that is officially used on board. This is why most cruise passengers are from German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland). There is personnel speaking English, but no services in English are provided.
