Geocache Description:

John Pasche!? Who the heck is he, and what does he have to do with geocaching?

Fifty years ago in 1970, John was a student at the Royal College of Art in London. The Rolling Stones were looking for an artist to create a poster for its 1970 European tour. The art school recommended Paschel, a Master of Arts student in his final year. Pasche met with Mick Jagger to discuss ideas for the poster. After his intial design was rejected, Jagger met with the designer some months later. Jagger was more specific, Pasche recalled: He wanted “an image that could work on its own … like the Shell Petroleum logo. He wanted that kind of simplicity.” During the same meeting Jagger showed Pasche an illustration of the Hindu deity Kali, which Jagger had seen in a shop near his home as inspiration for the design.

After some back and forth he designed one of the most famous logos of all time, certainly the most famous rock and roll logo. Pasche said he was paid just £50 in 1970 (about $970 today), and also received a £200 bonus. He has said if he had royalties from the logo, he could purchase a castle.

There is still debate whether the design came from a Hindu goddess Kali that Mick was facinated by; or was it to represent the band’s anti-authoritarian attitude, or Mick's lips and tongue. However most everyone now knows the Rolling Stones from the famous red lips and tongue logo!

Park is daylight hours only I am told. Cache is not far off main trail, you will need to find it to see how it ties into John Pasche. It is a micro in the woods, but should stand out once at ground zero. As long as snow is not too deep, should be winter friendly, please be carefull, custom made container. Cache container is to small for a pen, so bring your own. First to find gets custom FTF key chain and one of my new pathtags, good luck.

Congratulations to Allyn Birch and Candy Apple 68 on a timely FTF, and a close 2nd to find by Whakmi
