Welcome to the Equestrian Trail Series! Located within the Kern River Parkway, the Equestrian Trail parallels the paved bike path but on the north side of the Kern River. Take a hike or a bike and enjoy this trail less traveled!

Black Gold


Black Gold won the 50th running of the Kentucky Derby in 1924. The horse was named for the popular slang term referring to oil, which was being produced in large quantities in Oklahoma at the time of his birth.
