Early on in the pandemic, a friend of mine was exploring and found a curious statue that someone left on top of a stone structure that he was studying. He was in New York and called to see if I would be home because, as he put it, "I found the perfect geocachine container for you!" and wanted to drop it off. When he arrived with the prize, I knew immediately who this CC would represent: Cersei Lannister. Everything and everyone in her path seemed to meet its doom at one point or another, and many met their doom as a direct result of her desire. As we sat and discussed the statue and its possible meaning, all I could think of was Medusa and in order to survive around Medusa, just stay away! If only people were smart enough to stay away from Cersei, they would have had a much better chance of a long and happy life. Basically, they needed to socially distance themselves from her, just as we had to do with each other this year.
Today, the last day of 2020, a year many of us will not soon forget, I decided to head up to Bear Hill to do some cache maintenance. Before I left, I noticed the statue and thought of two things: Cersei and the Pandemic of 2020. The statue seemed to be saying, "It's time to hide me." So, I grabbed her off the shelf, and headed to the preserve. After doing maintenance, I headed toward another section of the trail. When I rounded a corner, I saw exactly the spot to leave the CC. The tangled mess seemed to scream, "Stay away if you know what's good for you!"; it was the perfect spot.
