Iowa is only state to provide for natural resources in every county by the formation of county conservation boards in 1953 via Code 350. This creates recreation opportunities for every Iowan statewide and offers more than 181,000 acres of public land. Deep River Wildlife Area is an excellent example of wild areas provided the public through the county conservtion board system.
