We take fishing seriously in our family. So when I discovered that my 5 year old grandson had a longer Species Caught list than I did it was time to take action! Of course you won't get far by sticking to the traditional game fish. Nope, you have to go for Strange Fish. Glorified minnows, weird bottom feeders and so forth. To commemorate this hunt I've decided to place caches near catches! So this will be the first in a series of geocaches that recognize underloved fish near where I caught them.
First up is the mighty Creek Chub. This may be the most ferocious fish - ounce for ounce - you'll ever catch. Just down stream from the nearby bridge I caught some nice ones. Drift a tiny bit of worm on a small hook and watch them fight for it.
This cache should be winter friendly and has a convenient place to pull over and park. Walk up and have a look at the creek if road traffic allows.
