1. Nazwa / Name

Łacińska nazwa żyrafy to: giraffa camelopardalis, ponieważ dawniej uważano, że jest skrzyżowaniem wielbłąda (camel) z leopartem (leopard).

Nazwa Żyrafa pochodzi z języka arabskiego i oznacza "pełna gracji, miła".

The Latin name of the giraffe is: giraffa camelopardalis, because it was formerly thought to be a cross between a camel (camel) and a leopard (leopard).

The name Giraffe comes from the Arabic language and means "graceful, kind".

2. Kolor / Colour

Żyrafa zjada 35 kg liści dziennie co zajmuje jej około 20 godzin. Przez ten czas jej język wystawiony jest na silne działanie słońca. Natura wyposażyła żyrafy w specjalny filtr słoneczny przez co ich język ma kolor czarno-fioletowy. Długość języka żyrafy to 50cm!

5. Woda / Water

Żyrafa z uwagi na swoją budowę ciała unika picia wody. Podczas picia jest łatwą zdobyczą dla drapieżników, dlatego pije nawet raz na 3 tygodnie! Rzadziej niż wielbłądy. 

The giraffe avoids drinking water. When drinking, it is easy prey for predators, so it drinks even once every 3 weeks! Less common than camels.

6. Długa szyja / Long neck

Żyrafy są nawyższymi zwierzętami. Samce mierzą do 5m, a samice są o 0,5m niższe. Jednak ich wyjątkowo długa szyja składa się tylko z 7 kości - tak jak u człowieka!
