Geocache Description:

Phil Niekro was an American baseball pitcher who played 24 seasons in the MLB.  He started with the Milwaukee Braves in 1964 and finished with the Atlanta Braves in 1987.  Phil Niekro was known for his knuckleball, which is a difficult pitch to master but is easy on the arm and often baffles hitters due to its unpredictable trajectory.  Niekro was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.

Mr. Niekro was a resident of Flowery Branch and has a major thoroughfare named after him here.  Sadly, he passed away on December 26, 2020.

To honor Mr. Niekro, this hide has been placed as the fourth and final cache in this series of "It's a Dinger" in Alberta Park.  It is fitting that one of the main attractions here are the multiple baseball fields and the countless games of our national pasttime that are played here.

Don't let this cache throw you a curve.
