If you are going from Yosemite to Lee Vining you are going to go right past it.
I started working at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge in 1967. The first few times i drove the Lee Vining Canyon road it was at night on our way to the hot springs near Mammoth. It was a steep one lane dirt road. At this point to get over a small side canyon you had to get out and move the planks to fit the wheels for your car! The funny comment about this place was that if you had a misstep on one of the planks you would fall a mile! In the mid 60's it all changed.
Be careful you don't knock it off when looking for it and don't fall over yourself!
Enjoy the view.
