Recently the idea occurred to me that during different points in the Back to the Future trilogy, more than one Delorean co-existed, despite it being the same car. This led me to count them and work out the maximum number of Deloreans there were in one time period. I did some internet research and discovered that others had worked similar things out, along with various diagrams of all the changes Doc and Marty made in their travels.
This also led to a bit of a paradox, as is typical with any sort of time travel (especially when lightning is involved; which made Sam and Al trade places). The first idea I had was that all of the Deloreans were always in the places they should be no matter which movie one was watching. This went along with what I had researched online. Then at some point, I realized that if one were to count the Deloreans as the movies went along Deloreans in later movies would not be in the current movie as that situation has not occurred yet. The proof behind this is the "Twin Pines Mall" at the beginning of the first movie which becomes the "Lone Pine Mall" at the end of that same movie. In the beginning, Marty had not time traveled yet so the "Twin Pine" had made it past 1955. At that point, I nearly scrapped this puzzle.
A little later a different thought occurred to me. This was that by the back and forth that occurs in time in all three movies, an infinite time loop is created which then puts more than one Delorean in the same time as an earlier (or later) Delorean. The movies are what set this up. With this in mind, I was able to get this puzzle together,
So in doing this puzzle, think with the events of all three movies having occurred and it is at whatever point in the time loop that was created, or that the events of all three movies apply.
Your first task is to work out how many Deloreans were present at the following times:
A. November 12th 1955 9:01:30 AM
B. November 14th 1955 2:36:15 PM
C. September 5th 1885 12:13:45 PM
D. November 12th 1955 3:25:24 PM
E. October 26th 1985 1:20:35 AM
Having those numbers you will also need to get the following numbers:
F. is C+D
G. is A+C+D
H. is (A+B)-D
I. is A+C
