Old Bay Port Cemetery
Located in McKinley Twp. at the End of Sand Road off of M-25 in the Thumb.
Known as Michigans Lost Colony, Ora Labora was established in 1863 by a religious colony of German Immigrants. They were looking to establish their version of Utopia with peace, Happiness, prosperity and no crime. Instead they were plagued by illness and death within months. With the onset of the civil war many of the men left to join the battle and the colony died out by 1867.
No one knows where the dead from the colony have their final resting places. Of the over 300 graves here, none of the recorded burials are from the colonists.
People have reported eerie feelings here as well as a sense of dread and loneliness
