Geocache Description:

The railroad bed from Bingham to Solon was built in 1889-1890 by the Somerset Railroad Company. The original track went from Oakland up through Norridgewock to Madison.  Later it was added on to and was extended up to North Anson into Solon.  Above Bingham, the track eventually went up to The Forks and stopped in Rockwood, where customers were ferried over Moosehead Lake to Mount Kineo House.  The railroad was dismantled in 1933, and the Mount Kineo House was razed in 1938.

This section of the railroad bed has been used for snowmobiling and ATV riding for the past few years. There is one geocache along the bed, Can You Gadabout Gaddis?, near the airport that bears his name.  Now there are a few more!
