The Antietam Creek Campground is located at Mile 69.4 on the C&O Canal Towpath, a few miles south of Shepherdstown on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. The campsites are nestled in the woods between the Canal and the Potomac River and they are a short distance from many recreational opportunities. Fishing, boating and hiking are but a few possibilities while staying at Antietam Creek Campground.
This is a really nice place to camp, bike, hike, or just relax and enjoy some scenic views.
Recipe:
Boy Scout Troop 33: Seafood Jambalaya
Makes enough to feed 6-8 hungry campers
½ pound Andouille Sausage, sliced
4 Tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
3/4 cup chopped green onions
1-tablespoon fresh minced garlic
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1-3/4 cups chicken stock or broth
1 cup seafood/vegetable stock
1 16 oz can diced tomatoes
1 10 ounce can Ro*Tel® tomatoes with juice
2-1/2 cups uncooked brown rice
2 cups Maryland oysters, drained
1-pound white fish, cubed
1-pound Maryland lump crabmeat
Directions:
In a Dutch oven, sauté sausage until it begins to brown, add butter,
chopped vegetables, and garlic and sauté until soft, stirring often. Stir in
seasonings, Worcestershire, stock and tomatoes and bring to a boil.
Add rice, stirring well, reduce heat to medium, cover and cook about 25
to 30 minutes. Add oysters and fish and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
Add the crabmeat and simmer 5 more minutes.
Serve with fresh crusty rolls to get every last bit of the sauce out of the bowl.
As for the cache you seek you need to pay attention to signage while tramping around looking, being careful where you turn as you enjoy your Jambalaya!
