Geocache Description:

A fairly simple village sign, erected to commemorate the millennium, it contains the coat of arms of the village, showing aspects relevant to the life and history of the village.

In order to find the final coordinates for this cache, you will need to visit the village sign (it should be safe enough to park right next to it), and check out what exactly what is depicted - yes, you will be able to sort out most of this at home on the computer, but not all of it.

The cache can be found at N52 5A.BCD W001 2E.FGH:

If there is a ram on the village sign, then A = 6 and H = 4.

If there is a windmill on the village sign, then A = 7 and H = 0.

If there is a coal mine on the village sign, then B = 6 and E = 2.

If there is a deer on the village sign, then B = 5 and E = 1.

If there is a pottery kiln on the village sign, then, then D = 5 and F = 7.

If there is a tractor on the village sign, then D = 7 and F = 4.

If there is no plaque on the post of the sign, then C = 8 and G = 1.

If the plaque on the sign says it was unveiled by the Chairman of the Parish Council, then C = 1 and G = 9.

The final cache location is only a short walk away.

About Village Sign Caches

This cache belongs to the Village Sign Series, a series of caches based on ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (generally on the village green!).

The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably started in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!

More information, bookmarks and statistics can be found at the Village Signs Website

If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do.
I would ask that you request a number for your cache first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk
so we can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
