Geocache Description:

Longridge Loop Extension  (LLE)

This ia a short loop of approximately 4km which takes you further out of Longridge on the Chipping road. There is a good footpath and lovely views of the Bowland Fells. The route then turns towards Longridge Fell and passes along the old railway line (a branch line up to the quarry) and into John Smith playing field. A footpath then takes you down Tan Yard Lane (once housing a Tannery) and onto the Blackburn/Ribchester road with views of the Ribble Valley.

In the early 1800's John Smith park was a quarry from which stone was used for local buildings and developments in Lancashire, such as The Harris Museum and the Railway Station in Preston. Evidence of the history is still visible eg quarry tunnels, a crane base and a glimpse ot a quarry face, ( there is an information board at the entrance to the park.)

The extension of 16 caches can be done on its own or as an extension to The Longridge Loop. It will also link in with Mr and Mrs Dancing Dudes Birthday Caches (6).

Straightforward cache but seems to be in a GPS weird spot! You may well find that your device tells you that you are 30-40 metres away. However if I try changing the coordinates it moves it on the map into someone's garden. I blame the overhead power lines! THERE IS NO NEED TO LEAVE THE PATH OR ENTER THE FIELD.  If you look at the map and shape of footpath you will get to the right place and then consider the hint. Sorry about this but I hope it does not detract from the cache.
