Welcome to Barkingfield
Barkingfield Park is a 45-acre park dedicated to passive recreation for the entire community to enjoy. Located next to the Kennett Township recycling facility where township residents (only) can recycle their trash and yard waste, the park features a grass trail network, wildflower meadows, two fenced dog parks for large and small dogs alike, and a mowed grassy area where children can throw a frisbee or play some soccer. Additionally, Barkingfield highlights sustainable land management practices including bioswales, multiple pollinator gardens, and riparian buffer plantings.
Access to the park is through the maintenance garage entrance and is open from dawn to dusk (no night caching). Please park only at the posted waypoint.
Barkingfield Park is the result of a collaborative effort between the Deleeuw and Pia families along with the Township, the Land Conservation Advisory Committee (LCAC) and The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC).
I placed this hide to introduce cachers to the park, so this is really designed to be a C&D for those looking for a quick fix. That said, I don't take pity on the vertically "challenged", since being vertically "gifted" presents its own challenges i.e. hitting your head on ceiling fans, colder weather due to altitude, etc.. The cache is high up. However, there are some easily moveable benches at GZ that you could use to access it. If you choose this method, use stealth and please be careful! Otherwise, I can think of a few common TOTTs that would readily get the job done.
