Inquiry or Interrogation
The CIA, FBI, KGB, MI-5, are organizations called “intelligence agencies.” Their main purpose is to gather information. This is what spies do for a living.
Here are some tips for a successful inquiry. Reading these tips may help you be a good spy:
- Time your request.
- At a busy hour, they may not follow procedures.
- Introducing yourself will gain you more respect.
- It may help to drop names.
- Cover you trail. Do not be too obvious.
- Introverts may be better at maintaining their character's cover.
Sometimes a friendly conversation isn’t enough. In that case a spy will have to decide if an interrogation is required. Here are some interrogation strategies to keep in mind:
- If they are lying, ask more questions.
- Dangle a carrot in front of them.
- Try a bribe.
- Try a threat.
- Success relies on perception and persuasion.
- Try to convince them that their situation is futile.
- Torture is a last resort.
