Geocache Description:

This is a locationless cache. To log it you must locate a statue of a monarch in North, Central, or South America. Hawaii and the territories and possessions of the United States may be included in your search.

The photo at left is that of a statue of King Louis XVI of France (1754-1793) located at the corner of Jefferson and 6th Streets and across from the city hall in Louisville, KY. The city was named after him in 1780 because of his support for the colonies during the American Revolutionary War.

The statue was sculpted by Valois in 1827 and was given to Louisville by her sister city, Montpellier, France. It was dedicated July 17, 1967.

To Qualify for this cache:

    1. Locate a free-standing, life-size or larger statue of a monarch. The work must represent the full figure, no busts, please. Monarch refers to a head of state, a sovereign with the title of King, Queen, Emperor, Empress, Tsar or the equivalent. Statues of Elvis, Dr. Martin Luther King, or butterflies will not qualify.

    2. Post a photo of the statue with your GPS receiver somewhere in the picture. The name of the monarch must be clearly legible in the photo. If it is not so in the primary photo, then please post another photo of the inscription or plaque that bears the name of the figure.

    4. Post the coordinates of the find and the name of the city, state or province, and country in which you found it.

    5. Please include some information about the statue, such as why the monarch was so honored by the community, who created it, etc.

    6. Each cacher may log this cache only once. Each statue may be logged only once. However, more than one statue depicting a particular monarch may be logged.
