The UFO
Back when I was a kid in the 70s. I was walking across the ice from my ice house to town to get some munchies. Along the way I saw in the night sky a bright star in the south east. This peaked my interest since the sky was mostly cloudy. You see the Bright star was on the wrong side of the clouds.
I stopped to look at it, I watched it for fifteen minutes. The star did not move so I was sure it was not an airplane or helicopter. Hardscrabble point was in front of me as I looked at the star. The guys were waiting for me to come back with the food so I went on my way into town. I had to make my way to the shore near the Surfside Supper Club (no longer there) but the beach is named for it. A store not for from there was my goal. Upon getting the snacks I made my way back to the lake. I noticed the Star still in the same spot and still on the wrong side of the clouds.
Part way to my ice house I stopped to watch that star. Then suddenly to my left I saw another bright light descend from the cloud deck. The light went vertically straight down till it was jut below the cloud deck. I could see light reflecting on the clouds as it then proceeded to travel to my right. It was then that I noticed the other light (the star on the wrong side of the clouds) begin to move. It went toward the second light and the second light went toward the first one. They met and joined into one larger light.
Then immediately went straight up and out of sight. I then kept on my way back to my ice house.
That evening of fishing got us a bunch of nice crappies two pounds easy a few even got stuck in the holes. We had to shove our arms down the hole and get under and push those ones up, the ice was almost three feet thick.
Now you may think this a fisherman’s tale, but we knew the good spots for big crappie on that lake.
During that time of year starting around 8:00 pm the bite got heavy and we could catch our limit fast.
One of my friends also won an outboard motor in the local crappie contest. Did my buddies believe me about what I saw? You darn right they did because we all saw A large UFO fly over heading west just the summer before. That thing was as big as a football field.
