Old Baldy Mountain. A beautiful place to hike in all seasons, with a spectacular 360 degree view from the top - see south to Sooke Lake, West to Shawnigan Lake, North to Mt Tzouhalem and East across the ocean to the Saanich Peninsula.
It's also immortalized in the paintings of E.J. Hughes, a notable Vancouver Island painter who included Old Baldy in his paintings. He was, by all accounts, a fun guy. Who, at one point, was old and bald.
But that's not really what this cache is about. I'll let you sort that out for yourself.
This cache is hidden part way up one of the trails that will take you to the peak and that million dollar view (no really, Old Baldy cost $1.5m for the district to buy). It's not a terribly difficult hike, which my 3 year old who was with me when I hid this can attest to. Though, some proper foot wear and a willingness to walk up a hill will help.
The cache is a waterproof matchstick container, with a log (byop!) - it is not large enough for tradeables or trackables. Please be careful with the cache and return it exactly as you found it. Please don't leave any spoilers!
