This puzzle is based on one in Long Lake, NY, GC3CNMA.
Joe the Plumber, a plumber by trade, was busy on a new multi-million dollar lake house in Long Lake. On smaller projects he keeps track of what he needs in his head, but this project was so big that he made a list of the parts he needed, breaking each installation out separately. Now all he had to remember is how everything fit together!
North Wing Jobs
4 pipes, 1 tee, 1 elbow
5 pipes, 4 elbows
4 pipes, 1 tee, 1 elbow
5 pipes, 1 tee, 3 elbows
4 pipes, 1 tee, 1 elbow
3 pipes, 1 coupling, 1 elbow
5 pipes, 1 tee, 3 elbows
West Wing Jobs
6 pipes, 2 couplings, 4 elbows
3 pipes, 1 coupling, 1 elbow
7 pipes, 2 tees, 4 elbows
4 pipes, 1 tee, 1 elbow
4 pipes, 1 tee, 1 elbow
5 pipes, 1 tee, 3 elbows
5 pipes, 4 elbows (configured the same way as parts in North Wing Jobs)
5 pipes, 1 tee, 2 elbows
Joe tried to save time by buying a lot of small pipe sections so he didn’t have to cut any long pipes to shorter lengths, although he knew that he might have to use some couplings to join two pipes to make a longer straight section.
Two jobs in the North Wing used the same parts but Joe remembered that the first North Wing job with those parts was smaller than the second North Wing job with the same parts. Two jobs in the West Wing could be configured in two ways, but they needed to be done the same way those same sets of parts were used the first time in the North Wing.
