This geocache pays homage to The Common Shiner. This silvery denizen of local creeks is usually only four or five inches long, and are harder to catch than their pals the Creek Chub (subject of Strange Fish #1). Interestingly they have an arrangement worked out with the Chubs. Shiners don't make their own nesting beds, they just lay eggs in nests made by Chubs (and other species). But then to be fair, they help guard the common nurseries from predators. I caught some nice specimens of Shiner just upstream from this spot. This should be an easy park and grab, but in the warm weather months a bit of a hike around will show you an interesting old ruined bridge and a remarkable population of frogs.
