Geocache Description:

Cache has been replaced 17/10/23 Welcome to Wilson Park Lawson, home of the only Map of Australia water feature in Australia. Built in 1932, it has recently been restored to its former glory. The map (scale 1:400 000) is made of stone, with rocks for mountain ranges and rivers and other features denoted by colours (although they are fading). It is surrounded by water, fed from a waterfall and stream at the far end of the park.

Historical information from The Nepean Times, May 21, 1932.

Opposite the Lawson pool, the park contains picnic tables, a children’s playground and public toilets. The surrounding bush is full of birdlife. Apart from picnicking, locals use the park for a variety of purposes. I have seen a man practicing his fly fish casting, another man practicing whip cracking and met 2 detectorists (metal detecting enthusiasts) who found an old children’s cap gun in the park (they have not given up their day jobs).

Park beside the pool and walk the short distance to the park.
