Geocache Description:

This Women in STEM cache is different from the others. Instead of introducing you to famous, award-winning women it introduces you to some of our geocaching community’s women whose work has been in science technology engineering and medicine (STEM). Each of these cachers has graciously granted permission for their name and profession to be used in this puzzle.

You will be looking for 44 items in the puzzle which is in the gallery. Once you find those 44 items, you will reveal the information needed to locate the cache. You will know when you have solved the puzzle, so there is no geochecker provided.

Without further ado, it’s time to introduce some local Women in STEM:

  • 3muddogs earned her degree in and has worked in petroleum engineering; she also worked for a semiconductor manufacturer.
  • bdp’s degree is in mathematics with an emphasis in computer science. In her first job she simulated nuclear accidents.
  • charliewhiskey holds a degree in math with an emphasis in statistics. She worked with the Army’s radio and computer equipment while serving in the US Army Signal Corps
  • jewilk1 earned degrees in chemical engineering and works as a process engineering manager
  • jinx4747 has degrees in zoology and biology and taught college students. Her chief interest was and continues to be genetics, so she describes herself as a geneticist
  • magicwander earned degrees in psychology. She conducted health services research and has taught bedside nurses research design and statistical methods.
  • mkohlmeier has an educational background in math and education. She has worked as a computer programmer, mathematician, logician and statistician. At the start of this academic year it was accurate to say that she teaches math.
  • The female half of mudder91 earned degrees in chemistry, specifically organometallic chemistry and has taught college students.
  • nessker has an educational background in, among other things, education. Her second grade classroom introduces kids to basic coding and she teaches robotics.

To complete the puzzle you will need to refer to the first 13 Women in Stem cache pages which you can locate by looking at the list of magicwander’s owned caches. You do not need to solve any of those puzzles to do this one, but you will need to know each topic and the women highlighted in each of them. Note that the topics for 2, 7, and 8 are a bit shorter in this puzzle than on the cache pages, the topics for 1, 12 and 13 do not include the first part of the topic, and you won’t need names from the caches that highlight more than two women.
