Geocache Description:

PET: Pennsylvania Explorers Trail. Let's celebrate our past and future explorations. This trail is intended to appeal to those who love Challenge caches, but also offers a Traditional between each pair of Challenges for those who prefer Traditional caches. For each Challenge cache there is a built-in checker to confirm you meet the qualifications for that cache. You can ride your bike, jog, or walk along the Chester Valley Trail. Bring your geodog on a leash if you'd like (don't forget to scoop), however be aware of the heavy bike and jogging traffic along the trail.

The Chester Valley Trail (CVT) is 14.7 miles in length, and the trail is ADA accessible, although many of the caches would be difficult to access from a wheelchair.  Chester County is working to extend the trail an additional 5 miles to the west into Downingtown to connect to the Struble Trail, and Montomery County is planning to extend the trail eastward into Norristown to offer access to the Schuylkill River Trail.  The CVT is open from 8 AM to sunset and may be closed due to icy/snowy conditions.  During substantial snowstorms the trail may be open to cross-country skiers, but snowmobiles and all other motorized vehicles (except motorized wheelchairs) are prohibited.

Permitted parking coordinates at several locations are provided.

Juniper? Cedar?  This location threw us for a loop.  Bringing up my Seek app by iNaturalist to identify natural things didn't help. After a little help from Naturalist Google we realized our problem: This tree is known as the Eastern Red Cedar, botanically called the Juniperus virginiana. It's the same tree!

Hopefully you'll have less trouble locating the cache than we did identifying the plant it's hiding on. Please return surreptitiously. DO NOT remove the log keeper (straw).

Sounds like this cache has already caused trouble for others! LOL  Congrats to BerwynBabe for her FTF and FTB (First to Borrow), due to the muggle maintenence crew! And kudos to DEGoldy for being FTM (First to find Missing) but eventually find! smiley

This cache was placed with the permission of Chester County Parks & Recreation Department. All caches must have the permission of Chester County Facilities & Parks Department. Please follow all Chester County Facilities & Parks Rule and Regulations. Parks are open year-round, 8 am to sunset. Dogs are permitted on a 6' leash. Hunting may take place within the parks during applicable hunting seasons.
