🌲*** Fairweather Park *** 🌲
Welcome to Fairweather Park in Newton Mearns.
The park is named after Sir Wallace Fairweather D. L., born in Angus in 1853. A Consulting Engineer and Patent Agent, he purchased the Shaw-Stewart estate in Mearns around 1909. In 1933 he gave £1000 for the building of the Fairweather Hall, adjacent to the park. This sum is broadly equivalent to £73,200 in 2020. The hall opened on 25th November 1933 as a social and recreational centre for the village of Newton Mearns.
