Geocache Description:

From Milton, proceed West to the intersection of Avalon Beach Road, HWY 90 and Old Bagdad Highway. This intersection is directly across the street from the Big K-mart store. Go East on Old Bagdad Highway past the County government complex(CR 191A)about 2 miles. Turn right onto Burtonwood Road.

This cache is hidden within historic Bagdad Cemetery. It is easily accessible from your car. My dad used to take me there as a kid during Halloween and it scared the crap out of me. The huge moss-covered oak trees looked like something right out of a 1950's horror movie! I still get an uneasy feeling out there even today!
The term "Cities of the Dead" was used by many 19th century writers to describe cemeteries. The literature from this period is fascinating, due to the Victorian pre-occupation with death, premature burial, and spiritualism (what we call paranormal events today). This burial site contains many interesting graves, including several Civil War veterans.

Due to the theft of the cache container at this location and others, it has been changed to a dead-drop and hidden in a new location(See Dead-drop Delta for a description of dead-drops and their use). The container is a quart-size, water-proof container. It is VERY well hidden and may require some searching. NO DIGGING REQUIRED! PLEASE CAREFULLY REPLACE THE CONTAINER IN IT'S HIDING PLACE.

Good luck and good hunting.
Agent Mulder

P.S.
A Local legend is associated with the large round ball tombstone in the SE corner of the cemetery, near the exit road. Supposedly on dark moonlit nights, you can see and hear the granite ball slowly rotating in it's pedestal!!! Also for some reason, the three adjacent obelisks have always been refered to as "The Sentinels".
