Lake Hendricks is a manmade lake stocked with largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill. There is a handicapped accessible fishing pier located here with parking nearby.
My parents took me fishing when I was younger. Our vacations were usually camping and fishing vacations. We camped in the campground here with our cousins, held family reunions, swam at the beach, and caught many fish over the years. Dad would clean the fish and mom would fry them up for supper. Lots of good memories of those special times.
When my parents got much older and were no longer able to care for themselves, my husband and I decided to take them out of the care center on an excursion to go fishing one day. We came to this area (although it was a dock then) and to the peninsula just east of here. Both of my parents were thrilled when they each caught a nice bass! Unfortunately, the bass were not the required 18” minimum to keep. My mom was so shocked that we had to throw them back! That was not something she had ever done. They sure looked big enough to eat and would have made a tasty meal!
