Carriden 6 - The Tank
If you're doing these in order then you will have been through Carriden Glen, past the falls and possibly headed up to one of the formal entrances to Carriden House - a long curving promenade lined by trees - called The South Drive. You also have the choice of a more western route to the coordinates for this cache, a muddier route alongside the Carriden Burn, but the two routes join up near a sizeable sluice adjacent to a reservoir. On the maps, the sluice and it's square pool are simply called 'The Tank'. Please note that the South Drive may be a signposted footpath, but there is usually sheep in the area, so any dogs should be on the lead for this bit.
The South Drive was one of a number of grand additions to the Carriden Estate during the early 19th Century, and makes for a nice stretch to walk, but the more western route from the glen to The Tank, will take you to closer to one of the stages for the Multicache in this series (Cache 1) - The Witches Stone.
The Witches Stone of Carriden

The path will eventually take you to Gledhill Avenue, and by the time you reach it you are skirting the edges of the village of Muirhouses.
