EST: Kärsu, saksa keeles Kersel, oli 18. sajandini väikemõis. 1784. aastal sai selle rendi ning pantimise korras koos Tignitzi/Voltveti mõisaga Bernhard Heinrich von Stryk, kes 1822 ostis mõlemad mõisad päriseks.
19. sajandil oli siin metsandus- ja suvitusmõis kuni võõrandamiseni 1919. aastal. 1920. aastal loodi peamiselt mõisametsadest Voltveti metskond ning 1885 ehitatud metsamõisa peahoonest sai metskonna ametnike eluase, 1946. aastast aga metskonna kontor ja metsaülema eluruumid. Tänapäeval asub siin Pärnumaa Kutsehariduskeskuse Tihemetsa metskond.
Kärsu metsamõisa peamaja on väheldane puithoone, ehitatud 1885. aastal, meenutades pigem suure talu kui mõisa elamut. Ühekorruseline, katusekorrusega kõrge poolkelpkatuse all, tuulekoja ja selle peal asuva katuse väljaehitusega, viimasel poolkaaraken.
ENG: Kärsu, Kersel in German, was a small manor up to the 18th century. In 1784, Bernhard Heinrich von Stryk acquired it by way of rent and pawn along with Tignitz’ Voltvet Manor, and bought both manors for good in 1822. In the 19th century, there was a forestry and summer resort manor until its expropriation in 1919. In 1920, Voltveti forest district was formed out of mostly the manor forest, and the main building of the forest manor, built in 1885, became the residential building for forest district officials. Since 1946, it housed the forest district office and living quarters of the head forester. Now, there is the Vocational Training Centre of Pärnu County Tihemetsa forest district.
