Welcome to Copiague History and facts Geo-Art design as part of an Eagle Scout project by Troop 2000.   The Eagle represents the Copiague schools’ mascot and the Eagle scout rank in scouting.  This GeoArt is designed to bring attention to the beautiful hamlet of Copiague while learning history & trivia you might not have known existed around you.  This Eagle project was done in conjunction with the Town of Babylon Beautification Program.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.  All questions are multiple choice and the answers can easily be found.

Amity Harbor housing development was started by George J. Brown, an immigrant from Russian, in the mid 1920’s. The Yacht club was designed as a community gathering place but by the 1930’s it forfeited and had many more occupant till the final in the 1950’s, Michaels Pier III restaurant which closed their door in 1992. Across the street a 55-foot lighthouse offered a view of the Great South Bay.  This was a landmark of the community for decades until it was destroyed by a hurricane in 1985. What was the name of the hurricane?
