Geocache Description:

Welcome to Copiague History and facts Geo-Art design as part of an Eagle Scout project by Troop 2000.   The Eagle represents the Copiague schools’ mascot and the Eagle scout rank in scouting.  This GeoArt is designed to bring attention to the beautiful hamlet of Copiague while learning history & trivia you might not have known existed around you.  This Eagle project was done in conjunction with the Town of Babylon Beautification Program.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.  All questions are multiple choice and the answers can easily be found.

The train tracks that ran through Copiague and the surrounding towns were on the ground. The railroad crossings were extremely dangerous as the crossing gates were not automatic and had to be lowered manually. Accidents were an unfortunate but common issue, whether it be automobiles or pedestrians. In what year were the train tracks elevated originally?
