The river channel along here and further upstream has been modified. Water was used to power a sawmill until the mid-20th century.
Look out for the views across to Tor Achilty. There may have been a fort on top of the hill as one of the slopes is called Bruthach an Ràtha which means 'the slope of the ancient fort'.
