CRGT - Grad Ormož

Ormoški grad stoji na jugovzhodnem delu bronastodobne naselbine, ki je bila zavarovana z zemeljskim nasipom in obrambnim jarkom. Jarek spremlja grajski kompleks ob vsej njegovi vzhodni stranici ter na koncu predgradja zavije proti nekdanjim mestnim ogrskim vratom. Ptujski gospodje so v zadnji tretjini 13. stoletja začeli graditi grajski stavbni kompleks. Grad je ostal v posesti Ptujskih do leta 1438, ko je rodbina izumrla. V prvi fazi razvoja gradu je najverjetneje nastal današnji izpostavljeni južni trakt, v katerem je bilo urejeno prebivališče ptujskih kastelanov, gospodov iz Ormoža, šele nato pa naj bi veliko obzidano dvorišče na severovzhodnem vogalu zavarovali z močnim stolpom. Nadaljnji razvoj gradu so pospešili dogodki ob koncu 15. stoletja. Po njegovem požigu leta 1487 so ga leta 1490 dobili v roke Szekelyji, ki so se tu naselili in ga v ta namen tudi obnovili. Postavili so severni in zahodni trakt ter morda tudi zametek vzhodnega. Leta 1532 so grad poškodovali Turki, leta 1540 pa so ga ob utrditvi mesta obnovili. Po napadu Krucev, 12. februarja 1704, je bil grad dalj časa opustošen. Med leti 1710 in 1740 ga je baročno obnovila družina Pethe. V začetku 19. stoletja je grad kupil industrialec Jožef Pauer, ki ga je dal obnoviti v klasicističnem slogu in obzidati jugozahodni grajski vrt. Zadnji lastniki gradu so bili grofje Wurmbrandt, katerih grb je nad glavnim grajskim vhodom. Po letu 1945 je bil grad nacionaliziran. Naslednje leto je bil grad s parkom zaščiten in proglašen za kulturni spomenik. Med leti 1951 in 1956 je bila v gradu nastanjena vojska. Grad Ormož je v okviru Pokrajinskega muzeja Ptuj Ormož začel delovati leta 2009.

Na gradu je prostor za potovalne žužke (travel bugs). Ne vzbujaj pozornosti in za seboj ne puščaj smeti. Območje ne uporabljaj kot stranišče.

 

CRGT - Schloss Ormož

Das Schloss Ormož befindet sich im südöstlichen Teil einer bronzezeitlichen Siedlung, die mit einem Erdwall und einem Verteidigungsgraben geschützt wurde. Der Graben windet sich entlang der Burganlage nach Osten und wendet sich am Ende des Schlosshofes dem ehemaligen ungarischen Tor zu.

 

Die Lords von Ptuj begannen im letzten Drittel des 13. Jahrhunderts mit dem Bau des Schlosskomplexes. Dieser blieb ihr Eigentum bis zum Aussterben der Familie im Jahr 1438. Der freigelegte Südflügel stellt höchstwahrscheinlich die erste Bauphase dar. Hier wohnten die Kastellane von Ptuj, die Herren von Ormož.

Erst später erhielt der riesige Hof, der von einer Mauer umgeben war, an der nordöstlichen Ecke einen mächtigen Turm, um seinen Schutz zu verstärken. Die Ereignisse am Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts beschleunigten schließlich die Entwicklung des Schlosses. Nachdem dieses nämlich 1487 niedergebrannt war, fiel es 1490 in die Hände der Familie Szekely. Diese ließ es mit dem Ziel sich dort niederzulassen, restaurieren. Sie ließ auch den Nord- und Westflügel und wahrscheinlich auch den Ostflügel bauen. 1532 wurde das Schloss von den Türken beschädigt und 1540 als Teil der Stadtbefestigung restauriert. Nach dem Angriff der Kruci am 12. Februar 1704 verfiel das Schloss. Zwischen 1710 und 1740 wurde es von der Familie Pethe im Barockstil umgestaltet. Zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde es von dem Industriellen Jože Pauer gekauft, der es im klassizistischen Stil erneut restaurieren ließ und eine Mauer um den südöstlichen Schlossgarten baute. Die letzten Besitzer des Schlosses waren die Grafen Wurmbrandt, deren Wappen heute noch über dem Haupteingang des Schlosses angebracht ist.

 

Schloss Ormož ist von einem Garten umgeben, der zu den schönsten Passagenanpflanzungen in Slowenien zählt. Auf einer Josephinischen Militärkarte aus der Zeit von 1763-1787 sind in der Umgebung des Schlosses bereits einzelne Bäume sichtbar. Das genaue Gartenkonzept ist jedoch erst später auf den Landeskarten von 1801 ersichtlich. 

 

Im Garten gedeihen rund 140 Baumarten. So findet der Betrachter hier, am Weg vorbei am Tulpenbaum, der zur Grabstätte des letzten Schlossbesitzers führt, große Eschen, Pappeln, gewaltige Eichen sowie die Überreste einer herrschaftlichen Lindenallee. Immer noch erfreut die Anlage sowohl Auge als auch Seele und lädt zu entspannten Spaziergängen ein.

CRGT - Ormož Castle

Ormož Castle is situated in the south-eastern part of a Bronze Age settlement which was protected with an earthen rampart and a defensive ditch. The ditch winds along the castle complex to the east and, at the end of the palace yard, turns towards the former Hungarian gate.

 

The Lords of Ptuj started building the castle complex in the last third of the 13^th century. It remained their property until 1438 when the family of the Lords of Ptuj died out. The first building phase most probably comprised the south wing; it housed the residence of the castellans of Ptuj, Lords of Ormož.

Later, in order to strengthen the fortification, a mighty tower was built in the northeastern corner of the huge courtyard, which was surrounded by a wall. Events at the end of the 15^th century sped the development of the castle. It was namely destroyed by fire in 1487, and then it passed into the hands of the Szekely family in 1490. They had it rebuilt with the intention of living there. They also had the north and west wings built, as well as the east wing in all liklihood. In 1532 the castle was damaged by the Turks, and when in 1540 it was repaired, it became part of the town fortifications. After the attack of the Kurucs on 12^th February 1704, the castle fell into disrepair. Between 1710 and 1740, it was restored in Baroque style by the Pethe family. At the beginning of the 19^th century, the castle was bought by Jože Pauer, an industrialist, who had it restored in Classical style and added a wall around the south-eastern castle garden. The last owners of the castle were the Counts of Wurmbrandt, whose coat of arms can still be seen above the main castle entrance. 

Ormož Castle is surrounded by one of the most beautiful landscape gardens in Slovenia. Some trees were already depicted in the vicinity of the castle on a Josephine military map from the period 1763-1787. By 1801, however, maps show the garden in its entirety.

 

Around 140 tree species thrive in the garden. Here, along the path past the tulip tree, which leads to the tomb of the last owner of the castle, the visitor will find large ash trees, poplars, huge oaks and the remains of a stately lime-tree avenue. The plantings still please eye and restore the soul, and invite visitors to take long, relaxing walks.
