About the Casino:

The Parkway Casino (also known as Borderwicks and Leonards at one time) was established in the 1920s by Alice Foote MacDougal as a grand ballroom with fine dining. The upper floors were used as hotel and apartments. In the 1930s, the Parkway Casino was called Murray's and became famous as a speakeasy and big band dance hall with fine dining and Broadway Floor Shows. New York Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt would visit Murray's on his way to Hyde Park from New York City. FDR even gave a radio address at Murray's during his presidential run. Another famous patron who was said to visit Murray's was the gangster Dutch Schultz. All this in our little village of Tuckahoe.

In the 1980's The Parkway Casino became Medical Offices.
(For context -- this was built coincident with the Bronx River Parkway -- the first limited-access highway in the world -- build not for speed, but for beauty.)
