This area is very popular these days as it includes the Townsville Dam and the nearby Wet Land Sanctuary. There is also an abundance of land for the caravan traveler to reside for a short stay.
However, along time ago the land would have been populated by large termite mounds. These little guys are everywhere in the bush and termite mounds can be very large.
Some fun facts about termites:
- they work 24 hours / 7 days a week
- they never sleep
- they don't like sunlight
- they have been around since the dinosaurs
- the queen can live 15-25 years
- the queen can lay up to 40,000 eggs a day
- there is more protein in a termite than beef

Take care when opening the cache. There is no need to remove the cache from its hide to open (you may just need to come from a different angle).
