The fifth in a series (in no particular order) inspired by hms76's "Calaveras Backroads: Fullen Rd" which eluded me for a very very long time.
This cache is located out Fricot City Rd, which runs between Calaveritas (aka the middle of nowhere) and Sheep Ranch (also the middle of nowhere).
ABOUT THE CACHE
- Good sized jar for SWAG
- Traffic is usually light and GZ is away from the road but it may be a good idea to lock your car either way.
- Please replace exactly as found, to keep it challenging and fun for future seekers. You will likely see how it is situated to prevent gravity from claiming it, try your best to copy this method when you replace it.
- Watch for RATTLESNAKES in areas such as these.
ABOUT FRICOT CITY RD
- Via the Highway from Angels Camp or San Andreas, take Fourth Crossing Rd and when you reach Dogtown Rd, continue east on Fricot City. 24 min from San Andreas and 28 min from Angels.
- Scenic route from San Andreas is via Calaveritas Rd and takes the same amount of time, 24 min.
- Scenic route from Angels Camp is via Dogtown Rd and takes 42 minutes.
- Scenic route from Murphys is via Sheep Ranch Rd, and takes 41 minutes.
- Scenic route from Avery is via Avery Sheep Ranch Rd, and takes 36 minutes.
THE ROAD ITSELF:
First patchy pavement, then a wide dirt road that gets washboardy in spots but should be ok for all traffic. If you're coming from Angels or San Andreas, you will pass through the Rite of Passage school about a mile from GZ, just stay on the main road.
