Sloves najdaljših insektov na svetu se drži orjaških paličnjakov iz jugovzhodne Azije, ki lahko zrastejo do okoli 60 centimetrov. Na srečo so te vejicam podobne živali popolnoma nenevarne in jih imajo ljudje zelo radi za domače ljubljenčke.

Najtežji hrošč
Najtežji hrošč oziroma najtežja žuželka na svetu je goljat (Goliathus goliatus), ki spada v družino skarabejev. Zraste do 11 centimetrov in tehta tudi do 50 gramov (ličinka še enkrat več). Hranijo se z drevesnimi sokovi in sadjem, najdemo pa jih v osrednji Afriki.

The heaviest beetle or the heaviest insect in the world is the goliath (Goliathus goliatus), which belongs to the scarab family. It grows up to 11 centimeters and weighs up to 50 grams (larva once more). They feed on tree sap and fruit and are found in central Africa.

Ta naziv pripada lastovičarju, imenovanemu ptičji metulj kraljice Aleksandre (Ornithoptera alexandrae), ki ga lahko vidimo v deževnih gozdovih Papue Nove Gvineje. Njegov razpon kril je okoli 25 centimetrov. Samice imajo krila rjavo obarvana, medtem ko so samci izrazito modro-zeleni. Spodnja stran kril je rdečkasta, zadek pa rumen. Največji slovenski metulj pa je lastovičar.
The biggest butterfly
This name belongs to the swallow called the bird butterfly of Queen Alexandra (Ornithoptera alexandrae), which can be seen in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea. Its wingspan is about 25 centimeters. Females have brown wings, while males are distinctly blue-green. The underside of the wings is reddish and the hindquarters are yellow. The largest Slovenian butterfly is the swallowtail.
Najbolj strupena
Verjetno boste presenečeni, da za najbolj strupeno žuželko velja mravlja, in sicer vrsta Pogonomyrmex Maricopa (mravlja zbiralka), saj s tremi vbodi lahko ubije podgano! Njen strup je sestavljen iz aminokislin, peptidov in proteinov. A to za človeka ni najbolj boleč pik. Tega ima, po Schmidtovi lestvici bolečine, mravlja Paraponera clavata (angleško bullet ant) oz. mravlja krogla – bolečina je namreč primerljiva z zadetkom krogle iz pištole, v valovih pa lahko traja kar 24 ur!
