During the recent lockdowns, Youngwood Lane has been a great source of mental peace for me - the relatively quiet lane, the sounds and smells of the countryside and some beautiful views bring peace of mind and helps keep you fit!
Around this location, which seemed to be begging for a cache to be placed there, you get a wonderful view of Chelvey Church. FRom the cache, though, you would see nothing but wood!
This cache is not suitable for a Cache and Dash as there is nowhere to park on this narrow lane. Cars are normally travelling at a sensible speed but please watch out for children and geohounds as sometimes cyclists come round the bends at speed. You will also see horses, sheep and other livestock in the surrounding fields so please keep dogs on a leash.
After this cache, why not visit the Church Micro at the Church (GC57VGD); you can reach it across field footpaths and Chelvey Road via Treasure Island (Walk the Plank) - GC8R5PP, and Treasure Island (Ghost Ship) - GC8TAY6.
A pointy implement would be useful to extract the log.
Please rehide so that cache is not visible to passing public.
Congratulations to Daryls Dad for a quick FTF
18/5/21 - Part of Youngwood Lane will be closed temporarily to pedestrians (and cyclists and moror vehicles) from Tuesday 1 June, 2021 for various periods up to six months later for development work being carried out by Taylor Wimpey. This cache will not be affected but it appears you may not be able to carry on to Netherwood Lane. There are numerous signposted footpaths in a North / North-East direction which will take you back to the Nailsea area, the nearest being between GC98X1Y - The Cat Trail - Where It All Began - Smokie and GC5QENZ - Four Lakes Trail #9: Youngwood Lane.
