Geocache Description:

This series is in dedicated to our Great Uncle Herbie.  Herb's family settled in South Kitsap in the mid-1930s.  He was born in Bremerton in 1939 and spent his whole life in Port Orchard, aside from college (CWU) and military service (USN).  If you knew Herb, you loved Herb.  He certainly has left a legacy for us to carry on.

All caches are hidden in or around locations that had special significance in Herb's life.  If you have hidden any caches, you know that sometimes it is hard to get close to the 'perfect' spot.  At times, I have had to find a spot in the vicinity, rather than exactly where it 'should' be.  Have fun!

Herb worked at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil from 1973 until his retirement in August 2001.

The Washington Veterans Home was built in 1910 in Port Orchard and is located on a 31- acre bluff overlooking the Sinclair Inlet of Puget Sound. The Home serves 240 residents needing skilled-nursing care.
