Geocache Description:

“There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.

"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed.”

― Joseph Heller, Catch-22

Did you know that Joseph Heller, the author of the bestselling novel Catch-22, is buried in a pretty cemetery in East Hampton?  You can also find a beautiful headstone marking the grave of young Alexander Lowenstein (1967-1988), who sadly was among the 270 victims of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988.  Childe Hassam (1859-1935), a pioneer of American Impressionism, and perhaps its most devoted, prolific, and successful practioner (according to an essay published on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's website), who had a summer home with his wife in East Hampton since 1919, is also buried here.   A few other residents I noticed included Mitchell Wilson, a novelist and scientist, Konrad Gürtler, whose grave marker credits him as an artist, and Kenneth Sawyer Goodman Dewey, a playwright.  You can come visit them, as well as all the other inhabitants here, and pay your respects on your way to find this cache.

You're looking for a homemade micro with room for the log only, so be sure to bring your own pen.  The cache is NOT hidden near any of the graves, so do not disturb any in your search.  Please remember where you are and be respectful while on these grounds.  Also, please make sure you cover the cache up very well when you are finished with it!

Happy caching!

*Cache is rated as wheelchair accessible.  Hide is less than 5 feet off of paved road, on a flat, grassy area, about 2 feet off the ground.*
