Geocache Description:

I am a science teacher in a small alternative high school that is  located close to the Slough. I bring my students out to this area very often. We have seen rabbits, racoons, beaver, deer,  nutria and many other critters. But my absolute favorite is the Western Painted Turtle.

This is a Native Turtle that is currently endangered. If you are lucky you will spot a few sitting in the sun on logs in the ponds in the spring and summer. These turtles have bright orange bellies and yellow stripes along their body. They are beautiful! Please be careful and stay on the trails because this is an important nesting area for these magnificent creatures.

There will be a nice reward for the FtF. I hope you enjoy as this is my first ever hide! Please put the cache back exactly where it was found. It could be a totally different experience if this cache isn't hidden properly. Please bring your own pen and enjoy the ponds!
