ScouterDuck is a native Michigander, but has lived a handful of other places as the needs of career and family have dictated. I got started with Geocaching while in the Watertown, NY area. There I had a dozen or so hides, all using "Duck Nest" in the name. A couple job opportunites and moves later, I am back near my old home. Here is my first hide for Michigan.
Welcome to Aurelius Township's Columbia Creek Park. Despite the indication on the map of a road around the back of the park, that road is for maintenance vehicles only. Parking is along the side of Curtice Road. From there, cross the bridge on the east end of the park, up past the playground and bathrooms, where you will find a trail into the woods, and then just a small bushwhack.
This is pine forest, which can be bad for signal at times. Posted coordinates are an average of multiple marks taken at the cache site, by walking away in different directions, then returning and letting the position settle. Still, there was a +/-.004 among the marks I took. Get close, look around, use your geo-sense, and the hint if needed.
Container is a decon container, good for small trade items but BYOP. Please return to the exact spot as found with as much or better concealment. Enjoy the hunt!
