Geocache Description:

This is the fourth of a set of caches we have placed in these local woods for you to explore. We recommend you do them in order, but there is no real need to, it just breaks up the walk back to the car.

The woods were started in December 1998 with over 42,000 trees planted in total. The first trees were planted by the local school children, and then local volunteers, supported by members of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, planted the rest. Together St Bede's, which are the woods over the main road, and Bright Lea make 22.71ha of native broadleaf woodland, predominantly oak and ash, with hazel, alder and rowan as well. A network of paths provide free roaming of the wood, and wild flowers are abundant on the ground and if you are really lucky, you might glimpse a deer.

The cache is situated about 5-10m off the main track, roughly in the middle of this triangular section of the wood. There is a stamp inside for those people that like to stamp their logbooks. Please leave the stamp for other people to use, DO NOT take it away with you, it is not a swap. Thank you.

We recommend walking back to your car through the woods, and not along the main road nearby, as it is not a very scenic road and the lorries that use it are normally travelling at speed.

Placed with the kind permission of Tilhill Forestry Ltd. on behalf of the Woodland Trust.

Congratulations go to g.o.caching for the FTF.👍
