About the school:
The current Tuckahoe Village Hall building was constructed in 1906 to be used as the Main Street School to replace the Lyceum School on Columbus Avenue. In 1958, after William E. Cottle Elementary School was built on Siwanoy Blvd in Eastchester, the Assumption School took over operation of the school building on Main Street. In 1982, the village purchased the then empty Assumption School building on Main Street to better serve village residents.
The original Village Hall, located on the south side of Depot Square was built in 1913 to house the central government, a police station, and the library, along with a bank. Village Hall was expanded in 1940. While the original Village Hall was a beautiful building, it would have been too expensive to bring it up to code to make it handicapped accessible. The building was sold to The Generoso Pope Foundation and serves now as the Westchester Italian Cultural Center.
