Upton Village Hall like many in the area, originally started life as the village school and lasted for 158 years before finally closing in 1985. The school field was then sold off and subsequently built on. The old school was then purchased by the village and converted in to the village hall.
The land and buildings were originally given by the Collies Trustees for a village school in 1826 which consisted of two bays of buildings and a lean-to. A new school was built in 1863 and given the title Church Aided National School. That building is what you see today.
